Biography
Suzanne SooHoo is a professor emerita in the Attallah College of Educational Studies.
Until 2019, she held the endowed Jack and Paula Hassinger Chair of Education and served
as co-director of the Paulo Freire Democratic Project. She also served as the co-editor
of the journal the Radical Imagine-Nation and the associate editor of the Video Journal
of Education and Pedagogy. She taught courses in critical pedagogy and culturally
responsive research methods. She also assisted in forging an educational partnership
between Attallah College and Waikato University, New Zealand.
A former elementary school principal, Suzanne enjoys working in the community with partners in democratic civic engagement. Her projects with Padres Unidos represent more than 1,000 parent volunteers from Santa Ana who have attended classes at Chapman in parent education facilitated by parent leaders.
