Biography

Dr. Ryan R. Brown is frequently recognized as a "singer's conductor," an accolade that speaks to his deep understanding of the voice and unparalleled ability to bring out the finest subtleties in vocal performance. Brown is particularly engaged in championing the works of living composers, committed to highlighting oratorios and cantatas that resonate in the 21st century. Known for his collaborative spirit, he serves as the Artistic Director of the Laguna Beach Chamber Singers and as a Teaching Artist for the Voces8 Foundation. Brown has held several prominent positions, including Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Activities at Lone Star College, and as a lecturer and Associate Conductor of Choral Studies at UCLA. As a lyric baritone, he is particularly passionate about concert performance and has been featured as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Yannick Nézet-Séguin. As an ensemble artist, he has sung with several grammy award-winning ensembles, including the Houston Chamber Choir and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. He earned a BM in Music Education from Westminster Choir College and advanced degrees in Choral Conducting from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.
